Do you live near Valencia Street in the Mission District of San Francisco?

We need your help!

In October we will be stocking the Artist Television Access storefront window (992 Valencia Street) and we want to know – what do you love most about your neighborhood? Help us by telling us your stories which will help us create the objects that will go in the window display.

We want to hear from you!

1. What does the Valencia Street area have that no other neighborhood in San Francisco has?

2. How would you describe your neighborhood, are there particular things that stand out to you about it?

3. Can you describe something specific that really sums up your neighborhood?

Jot down a few words and post them here!

  1. I love that this is a neighborhood in flux. It makes people stop and think.

What kind of businesses do we want here? Who gets to make that decision? How do we take collective action?

Without discussion and debate, communities get lazy and take things for granted. It’s up to us to decide our destiny.

  2. I have only lived in the Mission for 3 years now, but in my 12 years in San Francisco it’s the neighborhood I’ve spent most of my time in. Valencia street has everything you need, bookstores and coffeeshops, great restaurants and dive bars, local designers and second hand stores, but I’ve got to admit, the sun and the burritos are the biggest draw. I’m a girl who needs both regularly.

To me, more than any other neighborhood, the Mission supports it’s own. As a neighborhood we rally together, get behind projects, support businesses, and have a ton of fun. We debate who serves the best chilaquiles and which is the best bike shop. We are fiercely loyal to our corner bar and corner store.

San Franciscans are hugely defined by the neighborhoods that we live in and I couldn’t be happier to be a Missionite.
